The Department of Basic Sciences in Hamedan university of Technology (HUT) was established in 2005 with the aim of teaching the basic science lessons to the engineering students. The Department is in charge of teaching theoretical and applied branch of basic sciences in subjects as varied as calculus, engineering mathematics, ordinary differential equations(ODE), physics and chemistry at Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. Participating in congresses and conferences, giving lectures, holding workshops, authoring and translating basic science books, publishing papers in ISI-indexed journals as well as advising and supervising students’ dissertations constitute some other activities of this department.
The Mathematics faculty members are active in 5 major areas: Operator theory, functional analysis, numerical analysis, fuzzy mathematics and Statistical learning theory.
The Chemistry faculty member is active in 4 major areas: Analytical, Inorganic, Organic, and Physical Chemistry. The Physics faculty members are active in 3 major areas: Superconuctivity, quantum optics and quantum optomechanics.
The group aim is to provide our students with high-quality educations considering the latest technology as well as academic advancements in Computer Engineering. Improving students’ practical capabilities and reducing the gap of academic careers with the industry needs are among the most notable objectives of this group. The computer Engineering group started in 2006 with one undergraduate program in Computer Engineering, namely Hardware Engineering.
Now, there are currently two undergraduate programs namely: Information Technology and Software Engineering with about 400 students. Prestigious students of this group take high ranks in national graduate examinations as well as scientific tournaments every year.
The Electrical Engineering (EE) Department of the Hamedan University of Technology (HUT), as one of the first two departments of the University, was founded in September 2006. It began its activities by admitting B.Sc. students in the field of Control Engineering.
At present, the EE Department offers 3 B.Sc. and 3 M.Sc. programs. The Department has 15 full-time faculty members, with 1 Associate Professor, 11 Assistant Professors and 3 Instructors. Overall the mission of the department is to address the technical needs of the Iranian industries, in particular those located in the Hamedan province, by training professionals as well as doing technical research in the general field of electrical engineering.
The biomedical engineering major was established with the goal of educating specialists who are able to utilize engineering skills in the analysis of biological and medical problems in order to design devices and develop technology that can aid physicians in the diagnosis and treatment processes.
The biomedical engineering group at Hamedan University of Technology started accepting undergraduate students specializing in the Bioelectronics emphasis in Fall 2010 based on the strategic policies set forth by the ministry of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran elaborated in the twenty-year Outlook Program in accordance with the goal of developing and expanding fields of study required for our country's advancement. Presently, this group employs six full-time faculty members involved in training students as well as in research activities. Establishment of a graduate program of study leading to the Master of Science in bioelectronics is among the short-term goals of the department.
Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest and broadest of the engineering disciplines that applies the fundamental notions and principles of engineering mathematics, kinematics, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, structural analysis, and material science to design, analyze, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems. The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Hamedan University of Technology came into begin in the year 2018 after ten years offering the degree of bachelor of engineering in robotics (2008-2018).
Currently, this department has 4 faculty members with the academic degree of assistant professor. The academic program is focused especially on undergraduate education. In the undergraduate level, the department tries to prepare bachelor's students for entering various sectors of the industry with better quality education. After successful completion of undergraduate studies, students can continue their graduate studies in the research field of mechanical engineering or some other related program. They can also be employed as a design engineer, production engineer, quality control engineer, and other job positions. The department has laboratory and workshop facilities with modern equipment to carry out research in all areas related to Mechanical Engineering.
The Department of Chemical Engineering started its activities in September 2009 by establishing its first undergraduate course. It then developed its activities in 2013 by admission of students in its first graduate course.
The Department is currently active in offering the major of Chemical Engineering (Process Design) at the graduate level and Chemical Engineering at the undergraduate level.
The Department’s main research activities are currently focused on Process Design, Process Integration, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Process Control, Environmental Engineering, Catalysis, Nanostructured Materials, and Polymer Engineering.
The Department also has 5 specialized laboratories devoted to studies on Unit Operations, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Process Control, and Nanotechnology.
Materials and metallurgical engineering is the basis for the production and development of a variety of materials that are used in almost every aspect of modern life. Material engineers produce a wide range of steels, metals, ferrous and non-ferrous alloys and advanced materials using various processes and methods used in surgical implants, computer chips, cars, airplanes, and so on.
The Department of Materials Engineering at Hamadan University of Technology has been operating since 2008 with accepting students in two undergraduate and master's degree. Currently, more than 300 undergraduate students and 50 master students are studying in this department. Materials Engineering and Metallurgy field at Hamadan University of Technology offers many opportunities for students through theoretical, practical, apprenticeship and research experiences. Materials science graduates can work in the metal production industries, metal forming, metal coating and protection, composite materials manufacturing, electronics and magnetic materials, manufacturing of industrial components, glass and Ceramics, oil and petrochemical industries, automotive industry, nanomaterials, bio materials, and etc.
The department of mining engineering was created in 2011.
At present, the department admits students in two bachelor's and master's programs nawehy mining exploritation.
Objective of this departments as one of the most experienced units in mining engineering education, efforts to train experts in variocy fields of exploitation inorder to create charge in mineral industry and the needs of industry.

Regarded as a rapidly developing higher education center in western Iran, Hamedan University of Technology, HUT, initiated teaching and research programs in pursuit of a key goal: to develop an advanced section of the skilled workforce needed for growth and prosperity of our Islamic nation. Our university was established in 2006 and began accepting undergraduate students majoring in electrical and computer engineering with the following emphases: control systems and computer Hardware.
At present, HUT accepts undergraduate students in nine engineering majors, namely electrical engineering (control systems and electronics emphases), computer engineering (computer hardware and information technology emphases), robotic engineering, material science and engineering (mining emphasis), chemical engineering, and biomedical engineering (bioelectronics emphasis).and postgraduate students in three engineering majors, namely electrical engineering (control system) , material science and mining engineering Based on the strategic policies set forth by the ministry of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran elaborated in a twenty-year outlook, and the sacred goals of our Islamic state, our tireless efforts are aimed at achieving the strategic goals of our university, which include establishing and expanding undergraduate and graduate programs in the fields of study required for our country's advancement as well as building and equipping advanced teaching and research laboratories.
